About

A small desk with a long list

The Review Beacon is an independent consumer-review site covering the direct-to-consumer brands that advertise to Americans all day. We read what the brands publish, what customers report, and we score it.

Who we are

The Beacon Desk is a small editorial team. Reviews carry the desk byline rather than individual names, because every article is drafted, checked, and edited by more than one person, and because we would rather you judge the work than the headshot.

We are not retailers. We do not stock anything, drop-ship anything, or take samples. We have no sales team.

What we do

Each review covers one brand, not one product. We read the brand's site from the homepage to the fine print: product pages, prices, shipping terms, the return policy, the warranty, and the support page. Then we read what customers say on public review platforms. From that we build a Beacon Score out of 100, pick the handful of products we would buy, name the ones we would skip, and set the brand beside two rivals.

We do not claim to have worn the shoes or slept on the mattress. When a review says what something is like to own, that is a summary of what owners report in public, and the Sources section says where we read it.

How it is paid for

By the owner, at the moment. The site may join retailer affiliate programs; when it does, a purchase made through one of our links may earn a commission. That has never changed a score and the disclosure page explains the arrangement in full. No brand has paid for a review, and none can.

When we get it wrong

Prices move and policies get rewritten. If you find something out of date, email contact@thereviewbeacon.com. Fixes are listed on the corrections page with a date.
