Farfetch UK Review: Is the Boutique Marketplace Worth It in 2026?
Farfetch sells other people’s stock, listed by brands and partner boutiques worldwide, so a UK order’s price, speed and returns depend on who is actually shipping it. Here is what the UK help pages commit to.

The short version
- UK orders ship with duties and taxes paid, so the checkout total is the final bill and no courier will ask you for import VAT on the doorstep.
- Standard delivery is free on UK orders above £400, full price or sale; below that, the fee appears at checkout and varies by boutique.
- You get 30 days from delivery to send things back free, by courier collection or drop-off, but Final Sale pieces cannot go back unless they arrive faulty.
- The headline price on a listing is the cheapest size from any seller, so the figure in your size can be noticeably higher.
The Beacon Score
Unmatched breadth and a sound UK returns framework, held back by size-dependent pricing, split parcels and a courier lottery that dominates the complaints.

What we'd buy

Designer trainers Set by each boutique
The size range across hundreds of sellers is the best reason to start a trainer search here.
Because stock comes from many brands and boutiques at once, a pair that has sold out at UK shops often survives on Farfetch in a single seller’s back room. One October reviewer on Trustpilot’s UK site found a sold-out HOKA collaboration this way. Pick your size before trusting the number on the grid, and keep the soles clean when trying them: the returns page forbids marked soles and wants the shoe box back undamaged, inside a protective outer box.
- Best for
- Tracking down a sold-out colourway in an awkward size
- Weak spot
- Your size may cost more than the grid suggests

Designer handbags Varies by seller and location
Bags travel with their dust bags and boxes, and duties are already settled for UK delivery.
A bag shipped from an Italian boutique to a UK address arrives on a duties-paid basis, which removes the post-Brexit risk of a customs bill before the courier hands it over. If something you ordered from several sellers lands in separate parcels, that is normal: Farfetch says multi-location orders arrive separately. Keep every dust bag, card and branded box, because the returns policy requires them, and leave the Farfetch security tag where it was attached until you are certain.
- Best for
- Buying a European-made bag without customs surprises
- Weak spot
- Returns refused if packaging or tags go missing

Pre-owned and Second Life Graded by condition
Pre-owned pieces carry stated condition grades, and you can trade old bags for credit.
Pre-owned listings are graded in four tiers, from Unworn with tags down to Good, which allows fading, patina or scratches, so read the grade before the photos. Second Life, available to UK sellers, works in reverse: upload photos of a designer bag, wait up to three working days for an offer, let a courier collect it free, and receive Farfetch credit within ten working days of a passed check. Access members get between five and fifteen per cent extra credit. The catch is that payment is store credit only, never cash.
- Best for
- Swapping an unused bag towards a new one
- Weak spot
- Second Life pays in Farfetch credit, not money

Sale and Access promotions Discounts vary by boutique
Sale prices can be sharp, and Access members get earlier entry to them.
The sale is where the marketplace model cuts both ways. Each boutique decides whether to join a promotion, so the FAQ admits your size may stay at full price while the rest are reduced. Many sale items are marked Final Sale and cannot be returned unless faulty, which turns a fit gamble into a write-off. Creating an account and ordering enrols you in Access, whose higher tiers add early sale entry, priority customer care and free shipping. Promo codes cannot be stacked or reissued once expired.
- Best for
- Buyers who already know their size in a brand
- Weak spot
- Final Sale tags make a wrong size permanent

Beauty and fragrance Priced per product
Useful for adding a niche beauty brand to a fashion order you were placing anyway.
Beauty sits alongside the clothing, but it follows stricter rules. Products must come back unopened and unused with every seal intact, and items that arrived in separate boxes have to be returned the same way, each with its own label. That makes beauty a poor place to experiment with a new scent. It works best for restocking a favourite you already know, especially once your basket clears the £400 free-delivery line. Fashion Concierge, the sourcing service for private clients, does not handle fragrance at all.
- Best for
- Restocking products you already use
- Weak spot
- Opened items cannot be returned
What we'd pass on
Made-to-order pieces
Made-to-order and customised items can only be cancelled within 48 hours of ordering, and after that the only route back is a fault or damage on arrival. Lead times also vary by product. Unless you have bought the exact cut from that brand before, we would pay a little more for a stock size that falls under the normal 30-day returns policy.
Fashion Concierge sourcing
Concierge is a sourcing service for Private Clients, and its own FAQ says the 30-day returns policy does not apply, many pieces are final sale and delivery can take up to four weeks. It may land a grail item, but the terms strip out most of the protections that make Farfetch tolerable for ordinary shoppers. Treat any concierge purchase as a final decision before you confirm.
Side by side
Two brands a shopper is likely to be weighing at the same time. Words only; the numbers change too often to print.
| Row | Farfetch | Net-a-Porter | Selfridges |
|---|---|---|---|
| Range | Vast, because it lists stock from many independent boutiques and brands at once | Edited luxury bought in and sold from its own stock | Department-store luxury online plus its physical stores in British cities |
| Price position | Varies by seller and size, so the same item can carry different prices | One price per item, with seasonal sales | One price per item, shown in pounds, with seasonal sales |
| Returns | Free collection or drop-off within a month of delivery; Final Sale excluded | Handled centrally because it owns the stock; check its own terms | Online returns under its own rules, set by a single retailer |
| Standout | Finding a sold-out size somewhere in the boutique network | Consistent presentation and a single seller behind every order | Trying things on in person before or after ordering |
Buying from Farfetch
Each line below was read on Farfetch's own site in November 2026. Policies move; if one has, tell us.
Is Farfetch for you?
Buy if you are
- chasing one particular designer item, or a size British shops no longer have
- happy to pay duties-inclusive prices rather than gamble on a customs bill
- careful with tags, boxes and dust bags until you decide to keep something
Pass if you are
- after one fixed price per item regardless of size or seller
- needing a guaranteed delivery day for an event or holiday
- likely to buy Final Sale items in a size you have not tried
Reader questions
Will I pay customs charges on a Farfetch order delivered in the UK?
No extra charge should arrive. Farfetch lists the United Kingdom among its Delivery Duties Paid destinations, which means duties and taxes are included in the price you pay at checkout and nothing is due on delivery. UK customers see domestic taxes as a separate line before paying. If you return the item, the duties included in the order are refunded through Farfetch.
Why did the price change when I picked my size?
Each boutique sets its own price, and the listing grid shows the lowest one across every size and seller. Your size may come from a different boutique charging more. Farfetch also says putting something in your bag or wishlist does not hold the price, so a figure you saw yesterday can move. Check the total at checkout, which is the price you actually pay.
Can I choose store credit instead of a card refund?
Yes, when you request a return through your account you may be offered a refund to your Farfetch account instead of your original payment method. That balance lasts five years from the date the return is approved, cannot be cashed out, and is applied automatically to your next order. One recent Trustpilot reviewer waited over two weeks for that credit to appear.
What is Farfetch Access, and how do I join?
Access is the loyalty programme, with Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Private Client tiers. Membership starts automatically the first time you order while signed in to an account. Rewards build with spending and include early sale access, priority customer care, free shipping and, at the top, a personal stylist. Reward credit lands 30 days after an eligible order for Bronze members and within hours for Silver upwards.
Our call
For a UK shopper, Farfetch is worth using when breadth is the point: a sold-out trainer size, a bag a London store never stocked, a pre-owned piece in a stated condition. Duties-paid delivery and free 30-day returns make that low risk on full-price items. The weak spots are sale stock marked Final Sale, prices that jump between sizes, and couriers that frustrate reviewers. Check the size price, the seller and the returns label before paying.
