Lululemon Review: Do the Leggings Still Justify the Price?
Lululemon still sets the standard for premium activewear, but its customer reviews have turned sour, so we read the product pages, the return rules, the Quality Promise and the complaints before recommending anything.

Verdict, fast
- The Align Pant, ABC Pant and Everywhere Belt Bag are still the products other activewear brands copy, and that counts for something.
- Returns must be unworn and unwashed with hangtags on, and the 30 days run from delivery for online orders.
- Exchanges happen in stores only, even for online orders, which is a real hassle if you do not live near one.
- The Quality Promise replaces items that fail to perform within a year, but it excludes ordinary wear and tear.
- Trustpilot reviews are mostly one-star, with complaints about shrinking, seam failures, slow refunds and support that is hard to reach.
How Lululemon scored
Category-defining products with a useful one-year Quality Promise, dragged down by strict return conditions, store-only exchanges and a weak service record.

What we'd buy from Lululemon

Align High-Rise Pant 25" See current price on site
The legging that defined the category, cut from Lululemon’s buttery-soft Nulu fabric.
The Align is the product most people mean when they say they own Lululemon. The Align product pages describe Nulu as so buttery soft it feels weightless, with four-way stretch, sweat-wicking and a hidden waistband pocket for a card or key. Lululemon itself says the collection is for low-impact workouts like yoga, and we would take that at face value: this is not the legging for heavy lifting. The live product page would not load for us this month, so check inseam options and price before you remove the tags.
- Best for
- Yoga, studio classes and all-day comfort
- Weak spot
- Pitched for low-impact use, not hard training

ABC Classic-Fit 5 Pocket Pant See current price on site
A men’s stretch pant that passes at the office and shrugs off a long flight.
ABC stands for anti-ball-crushing, and the product page credits an ergonomic gusset that takes tension out of the crotch. The five-pocket version is cut in Warpstreme, which Lululemon lists as wrinkle-resistant, quick-drying and four-way stretch, in a classic fit that tapers from thigh to hem. It machine washes cold and tumble dries low, and the 32-inch length carried a 4.5-star average from well over a thousand on-site reviews. Up close it still reads as technical fabric, so it will not replace wool trousers.
- Best for
- Commuting, travel and casual offices
- Weak spot
- Looks technical next to real chinos

Everywhere Belt Bag 1L See current price on site
The small crossbody that became a cult item and has stayed in the range.
A compact zip bag worn across the chest or at the waist. The product page gives it a one-liter volume, roughly 7.5 by 2 by 5 inches, with a strap that extends to about 42 inches, which means phone, keys, cards and little else. The shell is water-repellent recycled nylon. The catch is on the care label: spot clean only, no machine washing, so pale colors are a gamble. It is one of the cheaper ways into the brand and a sensible travel and errands bag.
- Best for
- Travel days, concerts and errands
- Weak spot
- Spot clean only, so pale colors are risky

Define Jacket See current price on site
A fitted zip-up that works as a workout layer and a neat everyday jacket.
The Define is a close-fitting zip jacket sold in more than one fabric. The version we could read is Luon, described as cottony soft, breathable and sweat-wicking; a Nulu version shares the Align’s fabric. Lululemon lists thumbholes with Cuffins to keep sleeves down, a back vent, zippered front pockets, a zipper garage and a zipper pull that doubles as a hair tie. The page says it skims the body and sits below the waistband, so there is little room for a thick layer underneath.
- Best for
- A neat outer layer for studio and errands
- Weak spot
- Body-skimming cut leaves little layering room

Metal Vent Tech Short-Sleeve Shirt See current price on site
A breathable men’s training tee with an anti-odor treatment and few seams to chafe.
Metal Vent Tech is Lululemon’s long-running men’s training shirt. The product page describes a knit built with minimal seams to reduce chafe, mesh zones for breathability, and Silverescent technology, powered by X-Static, to inhibit odor-causing bacteria. It is cut to skim the body from chest to waist, so it fits closer than a cotton tee. Some recent Trustpilot reviewers complain about shrinking and holes on Lululemon tops; the label says wash cold and tumble dry low, and we would stick to it.
- Best for
- Running and gym sessions in warm weather
- Weak spot
- Close cut and a premium price for a tee
What we'd pass on
We Made Too Much markdowns
The discounts look tempting, but every We Made Too Much item is final sale. Only members get a way out, and even then it is an exchange or a gift card, in store only. With strict tag rules on full-price items and fit varying between styles, buying a markdown you cannot return is a bet we would not take unless you already own that exact size and style.
How Lululemon stacks up
Two brands a shopper is likely to be weighing at the same time. Words only; the numbers change too often to print.
| Row | Lululemon | Vuori | Nike |
|---|---|---|---|
| Range | Deep technical range for yoga, running, training, golf and tennis | Narrower range built around soft joggers, shorts and leggings | Enormous range covering every sport, shoes included |
| Price position | Premium, with markdowns in a final-sale section | Premium, close to Lululemon on most bottoms | Wide spread from budget basics to premium lines |
| Returns | Thirty days from delivery, unworn with tags, exchanges in store only | Free label and a long window counted from purchase | Sixty-day window, with free returns for members |
| Standout | Category-defining leggings and a one-year Quality Promise | Soft knits that double as loungewear | Breadth, availability and sport-specific engineering |

What people ask about Lululemon
Can you return Lululemon items you have worn?
Not under the standard policy, which requires unworn, unwashed items with hangtags. The exception is the Quality Promise: if an item does not perform as intended within a year of purchase, Lululemon may replace it or offer another solution. Ordinary wear and tear is excluded, and each claim is judged case by case.
Can I exchange a Lululemon online order by mail?
No. The help center says exchanges happen in stores only, including for online purchases. By mail, you return the item for a refund and place a new order. If you are unsure of size, it is worth trying the style in a store first.
Are Lululemon sale items returnable?
Items in the We Made Too Much section are final sale, as are gift cards. Members can exchange sale items or return them for a gift card, but only in a store. Swimwear needs its hygienic liner intact and underwear must be unused in its original packaging.
Is Lululemon membership free?
Yes. Joining requires a name and email and is open to US and Canadian residents. Members get receipt-free returns, free hemming and early access to some drops, and higher tiers unlock automatically with yearly spending. It costs nothing, so join before buying.
Why are Lululemon’s Trustpilot reviews so poor?
Most low ratings concern service: lost or late parcels, refunds issued as gift cards, and long waits to reach support. Quality complaints include seams failing, holes, fading and shrinking. Trustpilot notes that Lululemon does not invite customers to review there, so the sample leans toward unhappy buyers.
Bottom line
Lululemon still makes the products the rest of activewear imitates, and the Align, ABC Pant and Belt Bag earn their place. The buying experience is less impressive: strict tag rules, exchanges only in stores, final-sale markdowns and a service record that reviewers describe harshly. Join the free membership, buy proven styles in sizes you already know, and use the one-year Quality Promise if something fails early.
